F.A.Q

I live in Kimberley, BC but will happily travel to Cranbrook, Fernie, Invermere and anywhere in between for family and newborn sessions. I visit Vancouver and Vancouver Island at least twice a year. Be the first to know my travel dates by signing up to the newsletter below!

For weddings I’m open to traveling anywhere in the Country and beyond.

You’ll receive a collection of edited images chosen by me. Every session and wedding is different so there is no set number. I’ll edit and send you any photos that I think you’ll like and help tell the story of our time together!

The average Family and Newborn Gallery is around 75 images. The average wedding is 75 per hour of coverage.

When your images are ready I’ll send you a link to your own online gallery! You can view, share, download your digital images from there plus order prints and products.

Family and Newborn galleries are delivered within three weeks.

Weddings galleries take eight-ten weeks.

The light leading up to sunset is my favourite. When the sun is low in the sky. My preference is to schedule our session for the 2 hours leading up to sunset. Of course this changes drastically throughout the year. If your vision is that dreamy sunset look and you have very young childeren then consider having your session in the early spring or fall when the sun sets earlier in the day. This way it won’t interfere with kid’s bedtimes like it might in the summer months. We’ll always try and avoid mid-day sun as it tends to be unflattering for portraits.

I know kid’s routines are super important and I’ll do my best to work around nap and bed times:)

For indoor sessions we’ll aim for mid-day or whenever your house gets the most natural light.

If the forecast is calling for lots of rain or cold temperatures on the day of the session, we’ll reschedule. I want this to be a great experience and the rain tends to put a damper on the mood (literally!) so I’m happy to move it to another day. Shooting under a covered area or moving it inside isn’t generally an option.

I don’t do set time limits because anything can happen! We may get great shots right away or it may take some time for the kids to warm up. I find not having a strict time schedule takes the pressure off:) We’ll keep going as long as we’re having fun and takes breaks if they’re needed.

The average family or maternity session is about an hour.

1.5 hrs for Newborn Sessions.

I don’t use studio lights. Instead I use windows in your home as my natural light source. The backdrop will be rooms in your home as well. Most often the master bedroom, nursery and living room. Don’t worry about making your house “picture perfect” I know things can be chaotic when you first bring your baby home. We’ll tidy up and move things around as needed. The majority of homes have enough natural light, however if you find your home very dark during the day this type of session might not be the best for you. If you’re not sure feel free to send me photos.

A lifestyle newborn session focuses more on the interaction between the new baby, their family and their new surroundings. I will direct you and tell you what to do with your hands but I try and keep it casual and natural looking. No elaborate dressing up or posing of the newborn. Babies are clothed or wrapped for the session, so no naked bums. There will be lots of images of the family interacting with the new baby and lots with Mom and Dad and any big sisters or brothers, fur siblings too of course!
